SOUNDS… FROM MEANING

SPEAKING TO SILENCE

The album includes a musical journey through the music of the three Americas with unpublished works by Great Latin American Composers of the tradition such as: The great Héctor Villa-Lobos (suite for cello and piano) and the great American composer of the 19th century - Amy Beach ( romance for violin and piano).

The album is completed with one of the objectives of the project, which is to disseminate the music of living authors/residents of our Region, integrating works by four exponents of the three Americas:

Jose Elizondo from Mexico - Paola Marquez Colombia-USA, Leonardo Le San USA-Colombia and Mauricio Charbonnier Argentina.

In the interpretation, we had the honor and privilege of having three outstanding teachers from the Argentine and international scene.

As they are :

Maestra Paula Peluso on piano - Maestro Stanimir Todorov on Cello and maestro Gustavo Mulé on violin. A luxury really.

The recording and production was done with the incredible and talented Christian Nicolas Paladino, by Avant Producciones- who did the mixing, editing and recording of a subsequent film, which will accompany the album. God only knows what we work for.

The album had the support of the Inamu Inamu National Music Institute. He was the winner of the Argentina Flores fund. And it will carry the distribution of the prominent Argentine label Acqua Records - Official Site.

ROSAS FOR ROSI

The trio who commissioned the work are alumni of the University of Connecticut. These performers break with convention to use a trumpet with the traditional violin and piano. Composing from an unusual perspective is Marquez’s signature experiential exercise. In “Roses for Rosi,” novel tones and rhythms evoke emotions and ideas. The genesis of this work is the untimely death of Rosi, the composer’s mother, and the tragedy of dying during the Covid-19 pandemic when people could not be with their loved ones. Marquez wrote “Rosas for Rosi” to honor the collective loss of life during C.

The work narrates the journey through the grieving and is an invitation to keep moving forward and celebrate life. In describing this journey, the composition explores the deep emotions of grief, resulting in resiliency and commemorating the lost people during the pandemic.

From its narration of numbness and tears to celebration and acceptance, this poignant composition validates the grieving process. As it did for Marquez, “Roses for Rosi” encourages us to give grief the time to commemorate/honor the person we have lost.
